Peter Mauricio Larrea Parra, PhD
Dr. Larrea holds a PhD in Environmental Economics and Policies from Peking University. He is an adjunct professor at Universidad Privada Boliviana and Universidad Mayor de San Andrés in Bolivia, where he teaches courses in statistics, economics, and environment related courses.
Dr. Larrea’s studies in Peking University focused on the drivers behind people’s willingness to pay for non-use values, also known as ecosystem valuation. He also holds a degree in agriculture and an MBA (with a focus in finance, economics, and sustainable development) from INCAE Business School in Costa Rica.
Dr. Larrea is currently enrolled in a second doctoral program, this one in public policy and development, with the goal of economically valuating the Bolivian development agenda’s impact on the environment.
Dr. Larrea has worked in the public and private sectors. He has extensive international experience, having served as a professor in Costa Rica, China, and Bolivia. While in China, he co-founded and conducted research as a part of the Chinese and Latin American Studies Community (CECLA), the leading think tank in China focusing on issues pertaining to Latin America and China. He has published a book chapter and now is in the process of drafting multiple peer reviewed publications.
